Boro have been handed a trip to Premier League champions Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth round.
Aitor Karanka’s men will head to the Etihad Stadium later this month to face Manuel Pellegrini’s multi-millionaires in a tasty cup duel.
The Teessiders will no doubt be cheered on by an army of supporters who have already travelled far and wide this season to cheer on their side.
Boro booked their place in the fourth round after a 2-0 win over Barnsley on Saturday, while City toiled to a 2-1 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Boro’s last faced City in January 2010 in an FA Cup third round tie at the Riverside.
On that day Roberto Mancini’s side prevailed after a Benjani goal on the stroke of half-time.
But happier memories for Boro fans against City include the memorable 8-1 win at the Riverside in May 2008, with Afonso Alves bagging a hat-trick.
Ticket details for the trip to City will be confirmed by the club in due course.
