Flanker Adam Reach insists there will be no cup hangover as Boro look to put the disappointment of Arsenal behind them and climb back to the top of the Championship.
Boro are unbeaten in eight matches in the league and will be looking to extend that run when they visit St Andrews tomorrow night.
Aitor Karanka's men were moved off the top spot when Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Huddersfield on Saturday and could slip to third with Derby playing Rotherham tonight.
But a win against the improved Blues will give Boro a three-point cushion on third place.
"We have to go to Birmingham, put in a good performance and bring home three points," said Reach, who looked most likely to create an opening for Boro at the Emirates after being brought off the bench in the second half.
Adam Reach against Arsenal
"If we win we should go back to the top of the league and that's the main thing."
Rather than make the long trip back north after the cup clash on Sunday, Boro's squad stayed in London, using Chelsea's training ground, and will head to St Andrews from the capital.
"The environment is different but all the lads are close and it doesn't matter where we train - we'll still work hard to prepare right for Birmingham," Reach told the club's website.
"Every game is different so you do change your approach slightly. But at the end of the day, we always want to win so we prepare for that no matter if it's Arsenal, Birmingham or whoever.
"We're 100% concentrated on the Birmingham game. We need to prepare well and if we concentrate for the 90 minutes then our quality should come through."
