Take Me Out: 'Teessiders are a good-looking lot' says host Paddy McGuinness

Take Me Out Teessider Looci has captured the nation’s feeling of romance by reuniting with her ex on the show.

And presenter Paddy McGuinness says it’s typical for Teesside lasses (and lads) to do well in the series - with both Hartburn’s Looci Sohma and Guisborough girl Emily Symington bagging a date on the ‘Isle of Fernando’s’ this time around.

“We have had lots of lads and girls from Teesside - and they’re a good-looking lot who are doing really well," he said.

“JoJo - she was great and really funny.”

Stockton radio presenter JoJo was part of the so-called ‘flirty thirty’ in Series 2 along with Jo Patton, from Guisborough, also in Series 2.

Teesside men have also had success on the show in the past with Adam Holloway in Series 3 and James Spanswick in Series 2, two Middlesbrough boys who won themselves a date.

But, unfortunately, says Paddy, he hasn’t gotten to meet more of us when visiting the area - saying he can’t remember where he’s stayed!

The 41-year-old Boltonian said: “I have done that many gigs over the years at all these places across the UK - but I have never seen them.

“When I get to Middlesbrough I drive in and think ‘oh yes I remember that off licence or hotel.’

“But I just don’t see much of the town or the city - in Sunderland or Newcastle it’s been exactly the same.

“I have never seen much of the place and I regret that."

Sleepless nights and teething - parenting is the universal leveller.

Paddy says he’s going to tap into his funniest parenting moments so far to get the crowd chuckling and nodding in recognition.

His twins Leo Joseph and Penelope Patricia, with wife Christine, are now a cheeky 19 months old.

“It’s been a nice morning actually,” he said.

“They’ve had their breakfasts, a little bit of toast and porridge and they’re playing now.”

But it’s those little moments of chaos he reckons will make us giggle.

He said: “This is one of things that I wanted to get out there - you often think ‘I can’t believe this is happening’

“But I think God I’m lucky! I have a friend who has a six-year-old who right from being born to now gets up at three or four in the morning.

“Ours had a purple patch where they had a few months of sleeping through but with teething that’s gone out of the window!”

And despite touring he says he is with the twins as often as any other dad to pitch in.

He said: “I have still been able to make sure I’m around for getting the kids to bed and I’m there in the morning lots of the time.”

  • Paddy McGuinness will tour with Daddy McGuinness and visit Middlesbrough Town Hall on September 29. For more information visit this link.
