Guy Kendrew from Faceby was again at the business end of the results list in Thirsk DMC’s trial at Long Plain Farm, Hambleton.
Tyneside teenager Billy Bolt came out on top ahead of Ian Austermuhle and Kendrew.
Rain made early conditions slippery, but it dried out quickly.
Bolt made it look easy - which it clearly wasn’t - but Austermuhle stayed in touch with him until five marks went astray on section seven.
Kendrew dropped down to third place when he hit trouble with eight and five lost on the last two hazards.
Hartlepool’s Simon Winfield was in with a shout of top spot in the intermediate class until a maximum on the eighth dropped him to third, while Middlesbrough’s in-form Alan Williams won the Clubman A class by eight marks from Yarm’s Mark Shearer by eight marks.
Winfield dropped just four marks on the dreaded eighth section - a feat matched only by Redcar’s Chris Jewell.
