A paedophile who tried to abduct a schoolgirl is set to be sentenced for a string of crimes.
Paul Whitfield has pleaded guilty to a catalogue of child sex crimes and will be sentenced at Teesside Crown Court later this month.
The 43-year-old of Bishopsgarth, Stockton, had previously confessed to the attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl.
And on Monday, he also pleaded guilty to making an indecent photograph of a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to meet a female child following grooming.
Whitfield was subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) and sex offender registration requirements when he committed the crimes.
These orders were made three years ago after he was caught with indecent photographs of children.
Whitfield will also be sentenced for four counts of breaching the SOPO, and two counts of failing to comply with notification.
These charges concern the use of two different names, having contact with a girl under 16, and possessing a devise capable of taking photographs and accessing the internet.
The court heard yesterday that Whitfield is now due to be assessed for ‘dangerousness’ before being sentenced at Teesside Crown Court on Monday, March 16.
Richard Bennett defending told the court that this would need to be examined due to the nature of the offences.
“The defendant knows that,” he said.
Whitfield, of Fordwell Road, who is currently in custody, is due to appear at the court in person at the sentencing.
