A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Middlesbrough.
A 28-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach during the assault at a property in Aire Street, Middlesbrough.
He is being treated at Middlesbrough’s James Cook University Hospital.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said his injury is not believed to be life-threatening.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the early hours incident.
He also suffered injuries and is being treated at Stockton’s University Hospital of North Tees.
Police were called to the house at about 12.45am yesterday.
One of the windows of the property had been smashed.
The 28-year-old victim was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
A 26-year-old man was arrested nearby.
A police cordon was put up on the street following the incident.
Scenes of crime officers were later seen carrying out investigation work at the house.
One female neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “I had no idea what was going on.
“I woke up at about 1.30am. I went to look out of the window and there was police tape up. Most of the street was taped off.
“I came downstairs and went outside.
“There were some police officers there and I asked one of them if everything was OK.
“The police officer said there had been an incident. That was all that was said.
“No one seems to know what has happened.
“The police have been here all morning. There have been a few vans and cars.
“This used to be such a quiet street but it’s not any more.”
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
“He is currently being treated at the University Hospital of North Tees where he remains under arrest.”
