Redcar Athletic are boosted by three new faces for their Wearside League home clash against Silksworth
Third-placed Redcar Athletic are boosted by three new faces for their Wearside League home clash against Silksworth tomorrow.
The Green Lane side signed outfield players Ben Hugill and Jordan Kirk just before non-league transfer deadline transfer deadline on March 31.
They also snapped up goalkeeper Brennan Slatter as cover for current custodian Matthew Berry, as previous second second choice shot-stopper David Peacock has been forced to retire on medical advice.
Richie Playforth should be available after missing last week’s 3-2 victory over Jarrow.
But he might have to settle for a place on the bench as Sam Webster, Alex Anderson, James Swann and Steven Barker are all after the same starting spot in the line-up.
Second-placed Stockton Town are at home to Ashbrooke Belford House as they look to turn a seven-match winning run into eight games and complete their 10th double of the season.
Town will have to make do without Luke Whittaker, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury.
But he hopes to be fit for the big game between the top two in a fortnight when Town visit leaders Ryhope, a fixture which could decide the destiny of the title.
Tony Johnson will be available, having missed last Saturday’s 6-2 win against Richmond.
Town need to keep their momentum going with crucial fixtures to follow next week against Sunderland West End and Redcar Athletic, followed by a trip to Hartlepool before they go to Ryhope.
A meeting of bottom seven sides sees Wolviston welcome Boldon.
