A perfect away performance at Rotherham saw Boro soar up to third in the table and they now find themselves only two points off top spot.
Norwich were the early Championship pace-setters this season but a five-match winless run saw them drop out of the top six.
A 2-1 victory over Bolton however leaves them just one point behind Aitor Karanka's side.
