Stingy Stockton Town beat Horden 1-0 to book a Wearside League Cup semi-final against Spennymoor Town Reserves, who beat Redcar Athletic on penalties.
Basement side Wolviston joined Redcar at the cup exit door but were slightly unlucky in their 2-1 defeat at third-placed Easington Colliery.
Stockton will play Moors at home on March 7 after Tom Coulthard’s header from a Max Craggs free-kick settled the tie between the Wearside League’s top two.
Coulthard popped up to nod the winner past Horden’s former Wolviston keeper Chris Davidson in the 24th minute - the only moment of excitement in a dour game.
Chris Tarn had the ball in the earlier for Horden but the goal was ruled out for offside.
The visitors continued with their tactic of stifling Stockton after the break, which meant neither side had a shot on target.
Stockton’s latest victory and shutout means they have now gone seven games without conceding as they move a step closer in their mission to reach a third cup final.
Redcar Atheltic had another spot kicks shocker as they lost 3-1 on penalties to Spennymoor’s second string after the match finished 1-1 following extra-time.
Redcar have now only scored one out of seven in their last two penalty shoot-outs, and have only put away one of their four attempts from 12 yards during 90 minutes.
Redcar had got off to a great start with Jamie Lee firing them in front just two minutes in, but Ross Morrow levelled six minutes later.
Athletic keeper Matthew Berry saved a stoppage time penalty yet Moors were the more clinical after extra time finished goalless, with Lee Redcar’s only successful penalty taker.
After a goalless first half, Wolviston fell behind to a Nathan Graham penalty at Easington. Dale Spence doubled the lead before Nathan Summmersgill pulled a goal back.
