A group of girls spent 12 hours playing 12 sports with a single goal - to raise money for Comic Relief.

Stockton Netball club linked with Egglescliffe School for a Sportathlon, which involved 36 nine to 16-year-old girls staying awake and playing sport from 7pm-7am.

The girls played a variety of sports from netball and dodgeball, to trampoline and dance.

They had the chance to try out cricket with a coach John Graham who arrived at 2am and also received support from people including Poppy Cornforth (Under-16 coach), Sophie Morgan (chair of Stockton Netball Club) and Claire Woodhouse who helped organise the event and lasted the full night alongside the girls.

Stockton’s Domino’s Pizza even helped the occasion with a delivery at 11pm to make sure nobody went hungry.

Rachael Masterman, junior coach for Stockton Netball, said: “The girls did amazingly well to stay awake through the night and have already raised nearly £500 for Comic relief.”
