Billingham Players present the play, which was written by Ira Levin in 1978, at The Theatre Upstairs, on Belasis Avenue
The Billingham Players head into the spotlight next week with their latest production - Deathtrap.
They will present the play, which was written by Ira Levin in 1978, at The Theatre Upstairs, on Belasis Avenue in Billingham from Monday until Saturday, April 12.
The play begins when an unknown dramatist Clifford Anderson sends his new thriller to award-winning Broadway author Sidney Bruhl for comment.
Without a success to his credit for some years, Sidney plots, with his reluctant wife Myra, how best to plagiarise Deathtrap.
But when Clifford - one of Sidney’s students - turns up to discuss the play, events take a sinister turn. The play holds the record for the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway and was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play.
Ira Levin is also a well-known novelist whose books include Rosemary’s Baby and The Stepford Wives.
Tickets are Monday £8, concessions £6; Tuesday-Saturday £10, concessions £8. Performances are at 7.30pm.
Tickets can be booked via telephone 01642 551981, by emailing secretary@billinghamplayers.co.uk or online at bit.ly/1g2tJ43
