A Middlesbrough woman who lost her husband to pancreatic cancer is organising a fundraising event for a charity close to her heart.
Jen Patterson is holding a Rock and Roll Dance to raise money for the Elizabeth Coteman Fund.
Mrs Patterson’s husband John died in 2013 aged 67 and the fund helped support him when he received treatment.
And this is the second fundraising event Mrs Patterson has raised for the fund after hosting a coffee morning last year.
The Rock and Roll dance will take place on March 14 at Marton Country Club.
Mrs Patterson, 68, is organising it alongside her friend Mary Burgess who lost her father to pancreatic cancer more than 40 years ago.
Mrs Patterson, from Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, said: “Last year’s coffee morning was a huge success. We raised £3,000 which was a lovely surprise.
“We wanted to do something again and came up with the Rock and Roll night.”

The charity supported Mr Patterson when he received treatment in Cambridge.
She said: “John was having some chemotherapy and we were travelling down to Cambridge weekly for six months.
“The Elizabeth Coteman Fund kindly paid for our travelling.
“It is a wonderful charity and I wanted to give something back to them which is why I am doing this fundraising.”
The Rock and Roll dance will run from 7pm until 11.30pm and entertainment will be provided by group The Cyclones.
Fifties and sixties dress is optional for the event.
Mrs Patterson, who has two sons, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren added: “I hope to organise more fundraising events in the future.
“This is a fund that is really close to my heart and anything I can do to help I will.”
Tickets cost £15 each and are available from Marton Hotel and Country Club on 01642 317141.
