Firefighters fought a blaze in a homeowner’s workshop.
Cleveland Fire Brigade were called at 7.39pm yesterday to Stanley Street in Norton following reports of a large outbuilding at a home on fire.
Appliances from Stockton, Thornaby and Middlesbrough attended.
“We got called to a garden shed which was more of a workshop at the rear of the premises,” said Ian Bradley, watch manager at Stockton Fire Station.
“It was about two or three small workshops attached to the rear of the house.
“There was some minor damage to the house - a window frame was damaged and there was some minor smoke damage to the home.
“The outbuildings were about 60% damaged by fire.”
Watch manager Bradley added that the blaze is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
“No one was injured,” he said. “The gentleman and his wife were out of the building at the time of the fire.”
People on social media showed concern about the fire due to the number of appliances at the scene.
But watch manager Bradley said the scale of the incident was due to the fire being “difficult to access.”
“We couldn’t get into it,” he said. “It was an access problem more than anything.”
The fire was out by 9.20pm.
