Teesside-born author enjoys successful book launch at Stockton Central Library

Fans of Teesside-born author John Nicholson enjoyed an exclusive preview of the latest book at a launch event.

Scores of people queued up for a signed copy of High Tees, the seventh in his Nick Guymer Mysteries series.

The crime story revolves around a missing person and is set across Stockton, including Portrack, Norton and Hardwick, as well as Guisborough and North Yorkshire.

John, a lifelong Boro fan, grew up in Fairfield but now lives in Edinburgh. The former football writer, who also wrote ‘We Ate All the Pies?’ often returns to Teesside to watch his team play and promote his books in local shops and libraries.

The book launch at Stockton Central Library was a huge success, he said.

“We had a fantastic turnout,” he said. “Over 70 people came along and we sold loads of books.

“I read some extracts and took questions and answers. Everyone had a good time.”

John thanked the library for the help.

“They put this event on at no costs and I would like to say on behalf of myself and other writers how great that support is,” he said.

John is holding two other book signing events at WHSmiths stores on March 21, in the morning at the shop at Wellington Square, Stockton, then Teesside Park in the afternoon.

His books are available to order at local bookshops, from The Book Corner in Saltburn or on Amazon.
