Zionist Spies in the U.S.?

newsweek_620x350 Last week, Newsweek’s Jeff Stein ran a sensationalist story detailing alleged Israeli spy activities in the United States. Stein, citing dubious sources, claimed that Israeli spies attempted to monitor Al Gore’s bathroom activities (an image too frightening to imagine) while drugs and women are routinely employed by Zionist spies to entice U.S. officials into handing over information of value. The sources for these and other absurd allegations contained in the article were mainly anonymous with one notable exception, an obscure ex-intelligence character and former CIA employee named Paul Pillar.

One look at Pillar’s past articles, publications and speeches puts the Newsweek screed in proper context. Pillar is a rabid Israel basher. In March 2014, he spoke at the so-called “National Summit to Reassess the U.S.-Israel ‘Special Relationship’” where he attacked Israel on everything from its defensive military operations in Gaza to its concern over Iran’s procurement of nuclear weapons. He even attempted to downplay Iran’s threat to wipe Israel off the map claiming that it was a mere mistranslation. Pillar took his place at the summit alongside miscreants such as Cynthia McKinney and Alison Weir, whose radical views on the Jewish state veer uncomfortably into David Duke territory.

In 2012, Pillar authored an article featured in an anti-Semitic blog in which he likened Israel to Apartheid-era South Africa thus repeating the false and unsubstantiated narrative of the most vitriolic Israel haters. Pillar also demonstrates his extreme bias and ignorance by characterizing the Six-Day War as a war “that Israel launched and used to seize the West Bank and other Arab territory.” Clearly context and facts mean absolutely nothing to this wretched person.

Briefly, the Six-Day War began when Egypt blockaded the Gulf of Eilat to Israeli shipping, kicked UN peacekeepers out of Sinai and then deployed seven divisions there, violated Israeli airspace with Mig-21 overflights and fired mortar shells at Israeli border settlements. These belligerent actions were of course accompanied by the perfunctory threats to throw the Jews into the sea. Israel struck preemptively to thwart Egyptian aggression. It is important to note that Israel warned Jordan to stay out of the conflict. However, Jordan’s King Hussein, drunk on false Arab claims of victory, struck first prompting a swift and decisive Israeli military response. The deceitful Pillar neglects to note any of this in his one-way rant.

In 2013, Pillar wrote an article supportive of the anti-Semitic BDS movement, referring to Israel as a colonizer and again falsely asserting that Israel initiated the war on the Jordanian front. Pillar also authored another article titled “We can live with a nuclear Iran” where he of course downplays legitimate concerns of nuclear weapons falling into the hands world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism.

Like the insidious and deranged Israel bashers Alice Walker and Roger Waters, Pillar is a man guided by a venomous hate and is bent on vilifying the only democracy in the Mideast and sabotaging U.S. relations with Israel at all costs. No one really took note of Pillar and his regurgitated banal diatribes until Newsweek’s Jeff Stein decided to mainstream this fringe extremist and his fables.

Some have drawn parallels between Newsweek’s story and the infamous Dreyfus Affair, when French military officials motivated by base anti-Semitism accused a completely innocent French-Jewish captain of passing military secrets to the Germans. While this comparison may be a bit of an exaggeration, the instant circumstance clearly demonstrates that purveyors of hate and conspiracy theories still lurk within the echelons of government and radical elements within the media are all too willing to give them a platform to espouse their odious views.

Opponents of the July 3 military coup continued their nationwide protests for the 11th month, calling for an end to the coup and restoring democracy.

The protesters raised pictures of Mohamed Morsi and flashed the R4BIA sign. They chanted against al-Sisi and his presidency bid

Woman charged over death of Middlesbrough-born cyclist Eric Codling

Dad of two was fatally injured after being involved in a collision with a car in the Sheffield area in November

A woman has been charged over the death of a Middlesbrough-born cyclist who was fatally injured on a Sheffield road.

Dad-of-two Eric Codling was on an early morning cycle ride when he was involved in a collision with a car on Sunday, November 3.

Police have charged Emma Egan, of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, with causing death by dangerous driving.

The 26-year-old has also been charged with driving while over the prescribed limit, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failing to report a road traffic collision.

She has been released on bail to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Two men, who were arrested and granted bail in connection with the collision, have now been released by police due to there being insufficient evidence.

Mr Codling, 55, of Millhouses, Sheffield, where his family now lives, was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the 8am collision. He later died.

As reported, hundreds of mourners attended his funeral in Sheffield in November to pay their respects.

The sports-mad Boro fan was sent off in a style befitting his passion, including a football and Boro shirt wreaths.

Middlesbrough FC also donated 22 Juninho scarves - Mr Codling's favourite player - which his family wore at the funeral, including his 76-year-old mum Valerie, who still lives in Stockton.

Mr Codling’s wife of 15 years, Karen, and two daughters, Grace, 12, and Eve, nine, were at home at the time of the tragedy.

Karen, a partner in the personal injury team at city law firm Irwin Mitchell, paid tribute to her husband, saying: “He was one of a kind.

"He loved his kids and he would have done anything for us.”

She described her husband as “a mad cyclist, mad runner and very fit - he went to the gym every day”.

One of six children, Mr Codling at first lived with his family in Park End, Middlesbrough, but later went to Oxbridge School in Stockton and Egglescliffe School.

He did an apprenticeship as a decorator and a career in the trade followed.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident at Whirlowdale Road in Sheffield.

They are asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101.

MORE AFGHAN VETERANS ’SEEK SUPPORT’

There has been a 57% annual rise in the number of Afghanistan veterans seeking mental health support, according to new figures.

The charity’s chief executive, Commodore Andrew Cameron, warned that the numbers are likely to increase over the coming years.

CONCERN OVER SUSPENDED SENTENCES

More than 9,000 criminals had their prison sentence suspended last year despite having more than 15 previous convictions or cautions, criminal justice campaigners have revealed.

The Centre for Crime Prevention (CCP) has called for suspended sentences to be abolished after figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act showed the punishment was being repeatedly handed out to serial offenders.

A total of 9,052 offenders had prison sentences suspended in 2012/13 despite 15 or more previous conviction or cautions, while 11,670 offenders with more than 10 previous convictions or cautions received suspended jail sentences.

MUSLIMS ’RADICALISED IN JAIL’

The head of the prison and probation service has described the threat of Islamic radicalisation behind bars as significant.

Speaking to BBC Panorama, Michael Spurr the chief executive of the National Offender Management Service of England and Wales (NOMS) said: “There is a significant risk, given the fact that we manage some very dangerous people.

“Our job is to minimise that risk becoming a reality - that somebody in prison becomes radicalised and commits a terrorist offence.”

BOSSES’ WARNING OVER HOUSE PRICES

Business leaders have delivered a warning about overheating in the housing market, saying interest rates will need to rise early next year.

But it also highlighted concerns that the recovery could be derailed by uncertainty around the general election, urging politicians to push ahead with boosting the supply of homes and taking decisions on major infrastructure projects.

Mr Welby acknowledged that church schools face “particular challenges in this area”, but he insisted pupils must be protected.

“When young people are bullied for their perceived or actual sexuality, it is an assault on their self-worth that can leave deep wounds which take many years to heal, if they heal at all,” he wrote in an article for i newspaper.

JOHNSON SLAMS BBC’S TREATMENT OF DJ

Boris Johnson has claimed the treatment of a veteran BBC radio DJ who says he was “forced” to quit because he accidentally played a song with the N-word in it was “utterly disgraceful”.

BBC Radio Devon broadcaster David Lowe found himself in hot water after airing an 82-year-old version of The Sun Has Got His Hat On which featured the racial slur.

Mr Johnson said Britain was living in a “Boko Haram world”, in reference to the terrorist network that kidnapped over 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria.

Man bit, kicked and choked ex with her own skirt - after she threw a 21st party for him

Anthony Winward, 21, 'flipped' and 'acted like a crazy person' :: Judge decides four months on remand is enough jail time

A violent partner hit, bit, kicked and choked his ex with her own skirt after she threw a 21st birthday party for him.

Anthony Winward was released from jail and ordered to do community work after a judge decided four months on remand was enough.

The 21-year-old and his girlfriend’s two-year relationship broke down after unreported domestic violence and his aggression on drink and drugs, a court heard.

He “flipped” after guests left a 21st birthday party she’d arranged for him on January 14.

The woman - mother of his one-year-old child - said Winward, who was drunk and had taken drugs, acted “like a crazy person” in an argument.

He grabbed her by the hair as she came down the stairs and pulled over the sofa, Teesside Crown Court was told.

Winward threatened the victim her child would no longer have a mother, prosecutor Emma Atkinson said yesterday.

He grabbed her by the throat, tried to choke her several times, punched her in the eye repeatedly, kicked her to the head and bit her right hand and left leg.

Winward wrapped a skirt around her neck and tried to choke her with it.

He took a phone from her and smashed it off the floor.

The victim had “significant bruising” and later said her child was affected by seeing her injuries.

Winward ran off. He tried to headbutt an officer and kneed him to the groin as he was arrested in the early hours.

Winward, of Dalcross Court, Hemlington, Middlesbrough, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and common assault.

His only previous conviction was criminal damage, with a caution for battery.

Scott Taylor, defending, said Winward lost control when he drank too much.

He said: “He’s only been in court on one occasion.

“The most time he’s spent in custody before this was a night in the cells at Middlesbrough police station.

"He’s now been in custody for over four months, equivalent of an eight-month sentence.

"He missed his child’s first birthday whilst in custody.”

Mr Taylor said a further short jail term would achieve nothing.

Winward worked since he left school, though he was now on benefits, added Mr Taylor.

The judge, Recorder Patrick Palmer, said he initially thought it had to be prison for the sustained, serious assault.

He told Winward: “If it wasn’t for the fact you’ve already served an eight-month sentence of imprisonment, you would have gone to prison immediately today.”

The judge passed a nine-month prison sentence suspended for two years with 18 months’ supervision and 100 hours’ unpaid work.

He added: “You’ve been very lucky today. If you hadn’t spent that period on remand you’d be going directly to prison.”

Thorntree stabbing: Man accused of Simon Bennett's murder due to appear in court

Man, 30, was charged with murder over the death of 28-year-old barber :: Teenager has also been arrested on suspicion of murder

A man is due to appear in court today charged with the murder of a Middlesbrough barber.

The 30-year-old man was set to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court after being charged with murder in connection with the death of Simon Joseph Bennett.

A 19-year-old man, also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Mr Bennett is thought to have died from a single stab wound, according to a post-mortem examination carried out on Friday.

It followed an incident in The Greenway, Thorntree, Middlesbrough, on Thursday.

Mr Bennett, 28, was found with serious injuries at 11.30pm.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers investigating his death have since been carrying out inquiries.

Police teams could be seen in areas such as Homerton Road - just a short distance away from where Mr Bennett was found.

There were several units in the area and the force’s helicopter was also hovering above.

Officers could be seen looking into drains in the search for evidence.

Friends and family have spoken of their sadness and shock since Mr Bennett’s death and hundreds of tributes have been posted on social networking sites.

Known to friends as “Simo”, Mr Bennett, believed to have been a dad, worked as a barber and lived in the Netherfields area of Middlesbrough.

Friends have described him as a “top lad”.

One tribute said: “Absolutely gutted.

“You would light up any room with your infectious personality and character”.

Another said: “Can’t believe all this brother just can’t get my massive head round it. Never ending love for you till we meet again.”

One friend said: “My thoughts are with the Bennett family at this sad time. I can’t believe here one minute and gone the next.

“You will really be missed and never forgotten. Always in our hearts.”

Residents living on The Greenway have also spoken of their shock.

One woman, who has lived on the road for more than 40 years, said: “It is just such a tragedy, it’s a terrible shock to see something so bad happen here.”

Inquiries in Mr Bennett’s death are ongoing, and police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the incident to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
