Bumper crowd expected for the tie with Boro expected to name a mixture of Under-18 and development players in their squad

Fans of both clubs can pay on the door tonight and entry costs £4 (adults) and £2 (under-16/pensioners) while programmes cost £1.

Redcar Athletic of the Wearside League are hoping to pull off an upset tonight when they take on Boro in the North Riding Senior Cup.

The quarter-final fixture takes place at Green Lane and a bumper crowd is expected to turn out for the tie, which kicks-off at 7.30pm.

Boro are expected to name a mixture of Under-18 and development players in their squad with coach Graeme Lee in charge of the team.

The winners of the tie will play Richmond Town - also of the Wearside League - in semi-finals.

Athletic secretary Kevin Fryett hopes tonight’s match helps raise the club’s profile on Teesside.

He said: “Redcar is steeped in football tradition but its days of having a high profile football team are long gone.

“With a newly developed ground boasting floodlights and spectator provision, Redcar Athletic are aiming to put the town back on the footballing map.

“Athletic’s immediate aim is to bring Northern League football back to the town but tonight is a big step along the way, giving the club a chance to showcase its facilities and its team.”

The tie has to be resolved tonight and if the scores are level after 90 minutes a penalty shoot-out will be used to find the winners.

Fans of both clubs can pay on the door tonight and entry costs £4 (adults) and £2 (under-16/pensioners) while programmes cost £1.
