Dream Home tour: Two cottages turned into one stylish and roomy £349,950 Stockton home

Sometimes it takes a lot to get the house of your dreams.

The right style, layout, amount of bedrooms, garden, location and much more have to be considered.

But the owners of this week’s Dream Home certainly went above and beyond to create their ideal house.

The Hartburn Village home was two separate cottages until the owner bought both and converted them into one Grade II listed home around six years ago, and the results are astounding.

What has been created is a unique property which the owner believes to be one of the biggest in the area. Attention to detail is obvious throughout including a stand out feature in the shape of double glazed wooden Georgian windows which offer vintage aesthetics while keeping up with modern standards.

Inside, the charming terraced home has been carefully designed to maximise the space, becoming a perfectly proportioned home.

Vintage style has been carried on throughout, utilising mostly neutral decoration comprising of light tones, while ensuring the best of modern design and technology.

Evidence comes in the shape of the breakfast/kitchen area which boasts light farmhouse style wooden units and tiled floor with sleek contrasting worktops and range style oven.

Elsewhere, downstairs consists of a large living room and dining hall, while the showpiece of the home - and the owner’s favourite room - has got to be the garden room.

“We almost live in the garden room,” said the owner.

“It’s all glass so it feels like you’re outside while having the comfort of inside. My wife is always in the garden.”

Upstairs comprises of three large bedrooms, one with en suite, and family bathroom, while outside is a larger than average garden at the front with a courtyard leading from the garden room to the rear.

It was the location of their home which initially caught the owner’s eye.

“We already lived in the village and we decided to knock these two cottages together,” added the owner.

“The reason we moved here was because this is actually in the heart of the village.

“It’s like living in the country but having all the amenities of having town on the doorstep.

“It’s just a nice place to live. It’s really an idyllic setting within an urban area.”

The couple are looking to downsize hence they have taken the decision to put their property on to the market but they love the area so much, they hope to stay close.

The Hartburn Village home is on the market for £349,950. Contact the Stockton branch of estate agent Michael Poole for details on 01642 268067.
