Police probe North Ormesby incident after woman reports finding suspicious male in home

Police are investigating after some suspicious circumstances were reported by a woman in Middlesbrough in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Officers from Cleveland Police were called to Coronation Street in North Ormesby at 6am.

The woman was reporting finding a suspicious male inside her address. He left moments after being challenged. The exact nature of these circumstances has yet to be confirmed but officers plan to speak to the woman again today.

An area of Coronation Street was cordoned off yesterday as a location of interest in this enquiry.

A neighbour told The Gazette that police had been knocking on local residents asking questions.

She said: “They asked me if I had heard anything at 4.30am but I hadn’t.

“Forensics have been in so something bad must have happened but we haven’t been told what.”

Enquiries are ongoing today and a cordon remains in place around the home.

Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Coronation Street or Beaumont Road area between around 5am and 5.30am on Saturday is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
