Ed Miliband on The Gazette’s Teesside Manifesto: 'It’s the way politics needs to be done'

Ed Miliband has backed The Gazette’s Teesside Manifesto saying “It’s the way politics needs to be done”.

The Gazette launched its ambitious survey to find out what readers on Teesside care most about yesterday.

The survey includes 30 national and local questions on subjects ranging from the NHS to education, from immigration to crime.

Our readers’ answers will then be used to help The Gazette produce the first ever Manifesto for Teesside.

Once complete we will present the manifesto to politicians telling them this is what we want from them for our region.

Describing the Teesside Manifesto as a “great idea” the Labour leader said: “I’ll certainly have a look at the manifesto, and I’ll have a read of it and take some of the ideas back for my manifesto.

“I certainly support you doing that, I think it’s a great idea.

“I’m trying to do it in my own way by engaging with local people and I think Anna Turley our candidate in Redcar is doing a brilliant job in her way of engaging with people directly.

“It’s the way politics needs to be done because frankly politics isn’t just about Westminster, it’s about local people and what local people care about.”
