Darlington's promotion bid was put on hold when their Evo-Stik Division One North home game with fellow challengers Curzon Ashton was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

As Quakers ground share with Bishop Auckland, both clubs have to play on the Heritage Park surface, making life difficult in such a wet winter.

But even though Darlington missed out on gate money, the club’s finances have been boosted by the players and coaching staff who have all contributed to a fundraising drive.

Gary Brown, club captain said, “The players and fans are all part of the same team, so it’s only right and proper that we do our bit.”
