Season card prices: Five points raised by fans after next season's prices are revealed

It's hard to please everyone and the reaction to this morning's season ticket price announcement has been mixed.

The slight price increase - the first in 10 seasons - has been accepted on the whole by fans judging by the reaction on social media.

Should Boro get promoted, fans will pay around £4 more per game and for those who sit in the North and South stand, the price per match is still just over £20.

But supporters have raised a few concerns about the finer details of next season's offer.

Here's a closer look at five points raised by fans after the season card announcement:

Big jump from Under-18 prices to adult seats

It's hard to argue with the prices of Under-18 tickets at the Riverside.

For just £125, youngsters can snap up a seat around the ground for just £125.

But those who sit anywhere but the South Stand or the North West and South West corners have to fork out for an adult ticket if they want to stay in the same seat once they turn 18.

That's a price rise of more than £250 in same parts of the stadium.

Call for 18-21 tickets everywhere in the stadium

The reason for that price rise in some parts of the stadium is because discounted tickets for 18-21 year-olds are only available in the South Stand and the North West and South West corner.

Some young fans have taken to social media to say they don't want to change seat but they'll have to if they want to get a discounted ticket.

That said, a season card for an 18-21 year-old in the aforementioned areas is priced at just £215 - an excellent offer.

Price rise acceptance

Fans have become accustomed to the season card prize freeze but haven't had too many complaints about the cost increase next year.

A few pound extra per game won't cause any widespread condemnation - especially if that's to watch Premier League football.

But it will be interesting to see how much the tickets are priced at after the early bird deadline.

Lack of matchday prices

Fans will be saving money by snapping up a season card instead of paying the walk-up prices but it isn't clear how much.

Next season's matchday prices are yet to be confirmed with the club unaware of what division they'll be playing in.

Should Boro get promoted, the chances are current season card holders who take advantage of the early bird offer will be saving themselves even more money per game.

Early bird discount for all

Tickets are cheaper for current season card holders to renew than they are for those who haven't had a season card.

Some fans have taken to social media claiming that the early bird price should be the same for everyone.

On the other hand, season card holders are being rewarded for their commitment by being offered a cheaper ticket.
