On-loan defender James Husband claims Championship strugglers Fulham are as good as high-flying Boro

Championship strugglers Fulham have the same quality as high-flying Boro.

That’s the view of on-loan defender James Husband, who swapped a promotion push for a relegation scrap when recently moving to Craven Cottage from Boro for the rest of the season.

Husband played the full 90 minutes as Fulham drew 1-1 at Charlton last night, a result that sends Kit Symon’s side eight points clear of the bottom three.

And the 21-year-old, who has cut a frustrated figure on Teesside this season having featured only six times for Boro, is amazed that his new club are struggling at the bottom end of the division.

“Boro are a top side, they are well drilled and have been all year, but the talent at Fulham is equal to the squad there,” Husband told the London Evening Standard.

“I can’t believe Fulham have struggled. You have got a whole host of Premier League players, and arguably some of them are better than Boro’s players.

“Maybe Boro would have come out with three points last night because a winning habit is a massive thing.

“Boro are used to winning this year and Fulham are not. We had a lot of chances against Charlton but when the luck is not going for you, it is not going for you.

“Speaking to the lads, they are finding it hard to see out game. But with the way we are playing, it will come.

“We are creating a lot of chances and it is only a matter of time before we start winning games.”

Husband moved to West London as part of the deal that saw Fernando Amorebieta move to Boro until the end of the season.

The Venezuelan international started alongside Jonathan Woodgate in Boro’s 2-0 defeat at Watford on Easter Monday, with Ben Gibson dropping to the bench.
