Two men arrested after armed police swoop on Dormanstown

Two men have been arrested in connection with a suspected firearm incident in Dormanstown.

Armed police officers swooped on Britannia Place at 4.50pm on Tuesday amid unconfirmed reports a cyclist with a shotgun had opened fire at the door of a terraced house.

Cleveland Police today arrested two local men, aged 24 and 26.

Both men have been bailed until January pending further enquiries.

Police have not said for what offence the men were arrested on suspicion of.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident, in which no one was injured, are ongoing.

Police have so far only said they received reports that a weapon “of some kind” was discharged towards a property.

House-to-house and other inquiries were carried out and anyone who has information which could help police is asked to call Detective Sergeant Amy Campbell on the non-emergency 101 number.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
