Bomb disposal experts called after grenade found in Markse house

Bomb disposal experts were called to remove a grenade which was found in a Marske house.

The specialists, along with officers from Cleveland Police, were called to Vicarage Drive following the find today.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said the grenade, which still had its pin intact, was found during a house clearance at about 11.45am.

“A 50m cordon was put in place around the scene,” she added.

Army bomb disposal experts later arrived at the address and removed the device safely.

The road was reopened by 2pm.
