Father and son devastated after racing bikes worth £20,000 are stolen from Stockton garage

Brazen teenagers who stole racing bikes worth £20,000 are being hunted by police.

The two youths, believed to be about 16-years-old, smashed their way into a garage on Darlington Back Lane in Hardwick, Stockton, and stole three high value bikes.

It has left the two owners of the bikes - Sean Teasdale and his son Josh, a competitive racer, devastated.

“I would love to get the bikes back and for these people to be brought to justice,” said Sean.

Cleveland Police has released CCTV footage of the incident, which happened at 3.30pm on Tuesday and in front of passing traffic.

It shows the two youths riding up to garage’s patio doors - with one throwing an object to smash the glass as he gets close.

He then goes on to push his way through the glass before quickly passing out the three bikes to his accomplice.

The footage then shows the pair riding away on their own pedal bikes with the racing bikes over their shoulders.

“They knew what they were going for,” said Sean, 41, who has the CCTV cameras installed at his property for security.

“The bikes are worth £20,000 new. It is absolutely devastating.

“Josh is gutted. He had only just won the national championships on one of them. It was a limited edition and we had gone to the Mercedes wind tunnel to get measured up properly for it.”

The stolen bikes include a black, red and white Scott Plasma bike with no pedals and carbon wheels and a black and white Scott Plasma TT with carbon wheels. The third is a black and red Ridley bike.

“We will have to replace them eventually,” added Sean, an accountant and dad-of-three.

“He can continue road racing but can’t take part in time trials because of this.

“It would be great to get them back and catch the culprits.”

One of the suspects is described as wearing a dark tracksuit with white stripes. The other was wearing a red coat with grey bottoms.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Will Galloway of Stockton Volume Crime Unit on 101.
