Driver arrested and bailed following crash that left 15-year-old motorcyclist in hospital


A driver has been arrested and bailed after being involved in a crash that left a teenage motorcyclist in hospital.


Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision at the junction of Beaumont Road and Thomas Street in North Ormesby, Middlesbrough.


The incident took place at about 5.15pm yesterday. It involved a white LWV box van and an off-road motorcycle.

A woman, who did not want to be named, was standing outside the pizza shop on Beaumont Road at the time of the crash.


“The young male rider had a really nasty head injury,” she said.


A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident. He has been released on police bail.


The 15-year-old male rider of the off-road motorcycle suffered head injuries and was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
