Tony Mowbray new bookies' favourite to become Coventry City manager

Former Boro boss Tony Mowbray is the new bookies' favourite to become the next Coventry City manager.

The Teesside favourite has been out of work since being axed as Boro boss in October 2013 .

A fans' favourite and inspirational leader as a player, Mowbray remains in the hearts of Boro fans up and down the country.

And Mogga could now be set for a return to the dugout , after the Sky Blues sacked Steven Pressley earlier this week.

The 51-year-old was in the running for the Coventry job back in 2010 when Aidy Boothroyd was appointed, but looks like he could get his chance at the Ricoh Arena in the coming days.

Mowbray was initially down the pecking order at 20/1 with Football League sponsor Sky Bet, but is not head of the betting at 2/1 after an overnight surge.

After managerial stints at West Brom and Celtic, Mowbray has plenty of experience and is understood to be searching for a route back into management.

If Mowbray was appointed Coventry's new boss, he would be reunited with Boro youngster Luke Williams who is currently on loan with the League One club.

Other names in the frame include James Beattie (5/1), Paolo Di Canio (12/1) and Uwe Rosler (16/1).
