Muslim society faces difficulties in marriages – Zahid Ali Khan

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily stressed the need for the Muslim community to make marriages simpler and to make the movement for economizing marriage expenses successful. He appealed to the parents of brides and grooms to spend minimum amount for the marriages of their sons and daughters. He lamented that the parents of the bride are forced to spend Rs. 5 lakh to 1 crore which is unbearable for a poor family.

Mr. Zahid Ali khan was addressing 41st Du-ba-Du (Face-to-Face) Matrimonial Alliance Program organized by Minorities Development Forum and Siasat Urdu Daily at SA Imperial Garden, Towlichowki. He told that Siasat Urdu Daily has launched a movement for minimizing expenditure in marriages and to make weddings simpler. The purpose of this movement is to make the economic condition of Muslim Community easier. The Muslims are spending a large amount of their income on marriages. During the present days, Dowry has become a social evil which is un-Islamic.

He further told that after Police Action, many wakf properties were usurped. He informed that Lanco Hills land belongs to Wakf Board. He had made a representation in National Integration Council for restoration of this land but it is very regrettable that the then Congress Government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh and Ms. Sonia Gandhi did not take any interest in giving this property to the Muslims. In the same manner, Government allotted 13000 acres of wakf lands for the construction of Hyderabad Airport. GMR dismantled the mosque to construct the runway of the airport.

A memorandum was submitted to the Govt. demanding 40% income of the airport to be given to Wakf Board but the Govt. did not pay heed to it and overlooked the sentiment of the Muslims. Now that TRS has formed the Govt. in Telangana State, it becomes its responsibility to restore Wakf lands so that the income of Wakf Board gets enhanced which will in turn benefits the Muslims.
