On-loan striker Patrick Bamford 'happy' at Chelsea and rejects exit talk

Forward Patrick Bamford has hit out at national reports claiming he has no long-term future at Chelsea.

Quotes attributed to Bamford that circulated in the national press yesterday claimed the England Under-21s striker was uncertain of his role at Stamford Bridge.

In the stories, Bamford claimed Blues boss Jose Mourinho “hadn’t really outlined the plan for my career”.

However, Bamford - who netted his 13th goal of the season in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Millwall - says the quotes have been taken out of context from an old interview.

“I have discussed my career path with Jose on many occasions and am very happy with it,” Bamford said.

“Everyone’s aim is for me to continue to develop as a player under Jose’s supervision and to have a long and successful career at Chelsea”.

After opening the scoring on Tuesday, Bamford will now look to continue his goalscoring form when he returns to boyhood club Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The England Under-21 striker made his professional debut at Forest in December 2011.

Boro boss Aitor Karanka confirmed that Daniel Ayala will miss the trip to the City Ground, while Damia Abella remains three weeks away from full fitness.

But Jelle Vossen could start after his goalscoring return against Millwall.
