Teesside musician James Arthur has announced details of his latest British tour - but he won’t be playing on home ground.

James, who won X Factor in 2012 and has enjoyed a turbulent ride on the rock rollercoaster ever since, will be playing nine UK dates in May on his “The Story So Far” tour.

But the nearest he’ll get to Teesside is on opening night, Tuesday, May 19, when he plays the O2 Academy in Newcastle.

Tickets go on sale on Friday for the tour, which also takes in Glasgow O2 ABC, Birmingham Institute, Manchester Ritz, Oxford O2 Academy, Liverpool O2 Academy, London Indigo@The O2, Norwich UEA and Bournemouth O2 Academy.

Earlier this week, Boro fan James, 26, who has a large European fan base, performed with Bulgarian artist Michaela Marinova at the X Factor Bulgaria final.

Last year, he went on a 23 date Britain and Ireland tour - including two nights at Middlesbrough Town Hall - before heading off to do 21 dates across Europe.

He is also expected to release his second studio album later this year. His first, James Arthur, reached number two in the album charts and included his million selling X Factor winners’ single, Impossible.
