Wilton 11: Employers holding jobs fair to recruit 50 workers at waste-to-energy plant

Employers at a new Teesside energy plant are holding a jobs fair to recruit 50 workers.

Construction of Wilton 11 is well underway - and bosses want to fill 50 positions for skilled workers including laggers, welders, pipe fitters, electricians and general labourers.

The event - to be held on February 19 at Redcar and Cleveland College - will showcase the employment opportunities at the site.

A further recruitment drive for 49 permanent staff, to operate the plant once it’s up and running, will begin later this year according to bosses.

Wilton 11 will convert household waste into enough green electricity to power 63,000 homes.

So far the £250m project has employed around 300 construction workers and the 50 further temporary jobs will become available over the coming months as construction continues. During the lifetime of the project, a total of around 400 jobs will have been created.

Andy Stokes, SITA UK Project Director, said: “We want to make sure local people know about the jobs that will be coming up at Wilton 11.

“We are particularly keen to hear from laggers, welders, pipe fitters, electricians and general labourers, as these are the skills we will need as the second phase of construction begins.

“Later in the year, we will also be recruiting for 49 permanent staff to operate the site.”

The jobs fair - held from 10am to 7pm - is free to attend and there is no need to register in advance. Visitors are asked to bring along their CV, including contact details, to leave with exhibitors.

CVs can also be submitted online at http://bit.ly/1KITBOn.
